I started taking photos to hold onto the sweet and ephemeral moments of parenthood. Now, my goal is to preserve these moments in time for families of all kinds.

Hi! I’m Scout. I grew up in the Greater Seattle Area, and lived in New Mexico and Ohio before moving to Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I learned photography on my mom’s SLR (not DSLR!) and in the darkroom (not Lightroom!) at my high school. Many years later, when I was pregnant with my oldest daughter, I got my first mirrorless Sony and it reignited my love for photography. In recent years, I started shooting family sessions for friends and realized what a passion I had for setting the scene to invite these beautiful moments within other families.

I also have my PhD in Social-Health Psychology, and teach in the Psychology Department at Coe College. While I love the purpose and fulfillment I get from my work with college students, I have always had a creative spirit, and family photography merges my loves of creation and connection.
